Birdie's Birthday!!

We had our first birthday celebration in the year! It was Birdie's birthday! This year, due to the influence of the "Little Nonya" tv show, we had Peranakan food for the birthday lunch. Birdie's treat!

We went to a Peranakan restaurant called "Ivin's" at Binjai Park. When we had settled down, suddenly Jaws turned to me and said, "This place reminds me of Bangkok". I totally agreed! It looks like our hotel, Samran Place! We got very nostalgic. It didn't help that both Jaws and me dreamed of Bangkok the night before.

Anyway, here's what we ordered! The portions were very small so we had to order many dishes.

The food was pretty alright; I am not a big fan of Peranakan food except for their Kueh-Kuehs. The company, on the other hand, made the dining experience excellent! I love having lunch with my Enemies on a Saturday afternoon! It was so cosy, warm and comfortable. =)

After the satisfying lunch, we went to my brother's friend's place for ICE-CREAMS! It was at King's Centre and the place is called "Swirl". Their Gelato ice-creams are SUPER good!! Especially their Peanut Butter ice-cream, Almond Longan ice-cream, Rum and Raisin ice-cream... I could go on and on.

And then it was cake-cutting time! This time, we had homemade cheesecake that was absolutely fabulous made by an expert pattissier. She is none other than ME! Haha!

Xiao Pang bought those blow-until-I-can-die-but-they-are-still-burning-candles for Birdie. Haha! We kept cheering her on and she really tried her best but those candles really worked. In the end, we had to douse the candles in a cup of water before the cake drowned in a pool of saliva.

The cake's texture turned out well but the cheese was a bit sour and "lime-ly". I think the reason is because I added too much lemon juice. And the stupid NTUC in Jurong Point didn't have those normal, yellow lemons. Instead, they had these Australia Lemon-LIME which was too "lime-ly". Haiz.. Spoilt the taste.

Pictures with the birthday girl.

Birdie wanted a drawer for her birthday which exceeds our budget. So, we gave her Ang Bao instead. But what's a birthday without presents?? Therefore, we gave her HELLO KITTY PANTIES!! Haha! Well, she is a big fan of Hello Kitty....

Smile lar, Birdie.. You know you love it! Hahaha!!

Xiao Pang brought Ah Bun her Christmas present. We exploded into laughter when we saw what she did for An Bun. Even the waiter burst out laughing! Haha!

Ah Bun kept saying she is Yue Niang in the "Little Nonya" tv show and so....

She got to be BUN-Niang!!! Hahahaha!

After that, we spent the rest of the afternoon playing Taboo which we borrowed from the ice-cream shop.

*Sigh happily* How I wish all my Saturdays are like that... =)

Stupid Bro and I

My cousin married to a Switzerlander on Wednesday! They had the dinner at Four Seasons Hotel and I wore the dress I bought online to her wedding.

I just realised that I have no pictures of the Bride and Bridegroom. Haha! It's all about my brother and me. We went around the Hotel taking pictures and here are a few of them.

With Ethel and Alvin.

Mum and Dad

Pretending to be the mannequin. I think my Bro looks good that night. Haha!

Lastly, Bro and I.

*******************************************

We had a silly conversation just now and I feel that that conversation sums up why we have such a strong bond between us.

Me: Why there are scratch marks on your back?

Bro: I scratched myself.

Me: Why there is also a scratch mark on your chest? Who is the woman?

Bro: There are too many. Can't remember.

Me: So she is the kind you pay money for right?

Bro: Yep.

Me: From which country? ( I expected him to say [you know where] and was waiting to reply "tasteless"]

(Pause)

Bro: Venezuela (The country that produced many Miss Universe)

Hahahahaha! He always play along with me and manages to add in some humour. I like! So now you know why I dote on him so much.

Online Shopping Hype!

I am so HOOKED onto online shopping nowadays! It is so fun and convenient for people like me who hate real shopping that involves walking a lot.

So to my friends who enjoy online shopping like me, this is a list of local online stores for you, http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pVGKljnGIi5yqt35W-BqHLw, which I've gotten it from Birdie. I also wanna introduce my current favourite store which is not in the list - wardrobe54.com.

Happy shopping, people!!

Back to School

Finally, it's back to school. It doesn't feel that I have not gone back for 2 months. The routes to the classes still feel very familiar and the lecturers still look the same. It is scary to say this but I'm enjoying school now. 0.O

Wanna share this Buddhist saying I saw in a show:

When you sense someone as a bad person,

no matter what he does,

you view his actions as bad.

And then, you will start to do bad things as well,

because your actions are controlled by your senses.

Now, whenever someone irks me, I will remind myself of this saying. It will not solve the problem but at least, it reminds me not to do the wrong thing.

A Memorable New Year

Firstly, Happy New Year!! This New Year hasn't been really good to me and my brother. In fact, it is most memorable. I shall explain why later.

On New Year day, we had a family buffet! My fifth uncle ordered Hakka food again! It looked delicious! He even bought roast pig and calamari! Calamari, MY FAVOURITE!! Many boxes of fruits were also a staple at such family gatherings.

My cousin, the lady in red, has just given birth! After the dinner, they went straight into the hospital. Haha!

On the 3rd Jan, we had a mini family bbq with only my own family and my 2nd Uncle family. My Mum is a super good cook! The bbq food didn't look like bbq food. She used aluminium foil as a "pan" and cooked the food on it. No burnt food at all! Quite healthy~

=)

Ok, on to more serious stuff. Now I will explain why 2009 New Year Day is so memorable. I fell sick on the day. I had sore throat, fever and gastric pain all at one go. It was so serious, in fact, that I had to go for 4 injections to cure my throat! 4! My poor butt and my Dad's pocket suffered from this ordeal. Grrr... And I nearly couldn't attend the family buffet and bbq! My Dad didn't allow me to go to the bbq so I threw a tantrum. In the end, he let me go unwillingly. Haha! Sorry, I am a spoilt and bad-tempered daughter.

Next, why it is also memorable for my brother. Look at the pictures below.

He got beaten during New Year Eve's countdown! He was at a pub at Cross Street with his friends. Suddenly, a fight broke out between two groups of drunkard uncles. Yes, that's right, UNCLES! Then, one of the backups the uncles called saw my stupid brother standing at the road side. He alighted from his bike, approached my brother, pinned him onto the wall and gave him two punches!! Luckily, my bro's friends pulled back that fucker. He is so old already and yet behaves so childishly!! Can't he see that my brother doesn't belong to either group??? He must have picked on my bro coz my bro is smaller than him! Coward!! Don't dare to fight someone his own size! My brother should have make a police report when the police came! Sue the backside off that old fool! Make him sit in a jail and get beaten by people bigger than him! Or send him back to school to learn moral values and grow up! I don't mind accepting him into my class! I make sure he grows up in double quick time. The old cuckoo....

So, memorable or not? I hope the saying "New Year, new beginning" will not work this year.
