Taiwan Trip Day 5 - Tainan

The both of us overslept on the fifth day. Luckily I was jolted awake by my internal alarm clock. Phew..

Had our breakfast (included in the Minsu's fees) at the cafe opposite our Minsu. Although we could only choose from 3 sets, the breakfast sets still win hands down over the breakfasts we had in the two hotels previously.

1st stop: 打狗英国理事馆 (Dagou British Consulate Residence)

Very boring place flooded with tourists from China and Hong Kong. They were a very distinct bunch with the guys in suits and the women with their umbrellas. Plus, we could hear them loud and clear a mile away.

After the brief stop, we went to a garden. Zhang大哥 saw this garden featured in the newspaper a few days ago and decided this was a good spot to take photos.

I love my camera's macro mode!

Third stop: The National Stadium of SAC. I have no idea what SAC stands for.

And we had our first fight...

Haha!

And we kissed and made up at the Lover's Wharf Park.

Come on lar, PX, I know you want my kiss! Haha!

We had our lunch after that - famous 虾卷 (shrimp roll).

It looked and tasted like tempura prawns. Yummy!

5th stop: 安平老街 (An Ping)

A 300 years old tree.

A 200 years old house.

After that, we visited some temples.

The next stop was a interesting place. It is called 水火洞 (Fire and Water Spring). How can fire and water co-exist?

Answer? Methane gas at work again.

Saw this weird tree at the area. Looked like huge peanuts hanging from the tree. Got to know from a sign that it is called 腊肠树 (literally translated: sausage tree) and that the seemingly innocent "peanuts" are poisonous.

Bought some 蜜地瓜 (honeyed sweet potato) to eat after our next stop, which was a visit to the hotsprings! The sweet potato didn't taste as good as it looked.

The unique feature of this hotspring is that the water is muddy!

This was the hotel where we had our bath. We had a room to ourselves. =)

Zhang大哥 waited 3 hours for us to finish our bath. He did not want to pay for the hotspring and so didn't rent a room for himself.

After 2 and a half hours of soaking in scalding muddy water, we came out of the hotel to find Zhang大哥 missing. But his cab was still in the carpark. So we sat on the steps and waited for him.

Suddenly, we heard, "Let's go" behind us and saw him running out from the hotel. Turns out that the boss of the hotel saw him waiting for us and invited him to take a bath for free. So generous of her!

And I spotted something funny about Zhang大哥 when he came running out. There was steam rising from his head! So funny, to see him "smoking"! Haha!

After the visit to the hotspring, we went to 瑞峰夜市, which to my opinion, has the best food stalls in Taiwan.

Quail eggs!

Super sinful. One quail egg equals to seven normal chicken eggs.

Hoop a prize! The prizes looked attractive.

Hotplate chicken and spaghetti! We bought this back to eat in the hotel.

The best 关东煮 (Oden) we tasted in Taiwan!

Day 5 ended with a full stomach. =)
