A Very Happy 14th August!

I had a terrific night on the 14th of August! The night before, Dad told me that his friend might be able to get a room at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel the next day! He was going to give it to use for free! And to top it off, the hotel is facing the city and we might get to see the Youth Olympics' opening ceremony!

So on the morning of 14th August, I was waiting excitedly for good news. And good news came! We got the room! Yeah!! My parents went happily off to check out the room, and of course, the casino while I waited at home. That was because I had a date with my Secondary School girls for steamboat at Wan Lin's place! On one hand, I was feeling guilty that I had to leave halfway through dinner to make it in time for the fireworks. On the other hand, I was excited and feeling that I got the best of both worlds, steamboat and hotel stay! =P

Table filled with the ingredients for a steamboat party.

And my first ever, Sashimi in a steamboat dinner!

And the peeps I have known for 11 years!

And right before I left, we decided that a few group photos would be a perfect end to the dinner. So we started fooling around with my camera's multiple shots function!

Oh, we just loved to camwhore. =P

I left after that and rushed to Marina Bay Sands Hotel. My bro said that they had already let off two rounds of fireworks and I was eager to reach there before it all ended.

Found out that our room was big! My twin nephews were there for the fireworks too! And they had a great time, climbing the beds and crawling on the carpeted floor.

My happy nephews.

Complimentary chocolates and fruits!

From our window, we could see the Marina floating platform! The seats were filled with people!

They looked like tiny red ants! Haha!

There are two main factors why I love staying in hotels. One, the room service and housekeeping, second, bathtubs in toilets. And I got my wish!

Munching on the fruits and chocolates while waiting for the fireworks to start.

Beautiful skyline. =)

And finally, the fireworks!

They even let off fireworks from the top of the skyscrapers! It looked like we were surrounded with fireworks! Alas, the show only went on for about 1 minute, which was way too short. Bleagh. We were guessing that they blew their budget and therefore, could only afford such a short display. =P

And then, it was time for the twins to go off. Alvin loved the room so much that he refused to leave. Heh! So, they had their milk in the room before they were carried away.

So cute.

My family then had their late dinner at Rise, a restaurant in MBS Hotel. One word to describe the service - sucks. The service was definitely not what I would expect from a 6-stars hotel. No initiative, slow service (despite us being the last few patrons), wait staff who don't understand English, etc. And the price! Totally not worth it. One suggestion to MBS, open a 7-eleven which sells cup noodles. I believe we would have enjoyed that more.

Anyway, after dinner, my parents hit the casino while I hit the tub!

I can't remember when's the last time I soaked in a bathtub. It was so soothing and relaxing. Shiok!

Soon after, it was bedtime for my parents and me. I didn't get to sleep much. Being with my father in a room, it was like I was caught between a thunderstorm and a train in a tunnel. I would want a room to myself next time. =P

View in the morning!

My parents left before me as I was meeting my girls in town. So I had the room to myself in the morning before I checked out! A funny thought came to my mind when I checked out. I was in a floral dress and my high heels, holding onto a clutch with no luggage (Mum helped me bring it home) and suddenly, I felt like a hooker who was there to spend the night. Haha! Ok, I thought too much.
